Refuge is found

Hasti's hope of finding a new life has come true.  With Hagar's help, she has been able to return home.  Stepping onto a plane headed for Iran, Hasti and her five children leave behind a dreadful past in Afghanistan.

For months, she endured abuse at the hands of her in-laws.  The long process of court cases, immigration papers and applying for passports to return to Iran nearly broke her spirit.

Now, Hasti and her children have been reunited with her brother and his family.   Hasti says, "It is so different.  My brother has said that his food and his house are ours."

Hasti is coming alive more and more each day.  She still grieves the death of her husband, but in spite of it all, she smiles.  She laughs with her children. She says:

We believe a different ending to our story is possible, because we've experienced it.  Hagar was a place where I learned we could be wanted again. And now, this long journey that I thought would never end has come to a close.
