Underage girls are often sold into early marriage. And child labor and commercial sexual exploitation are common.

There are few services available to survivors and community awareness about human trafficking remains low.

Equipped to Help Survivors Heal

Now that she’s been trained in Hagar’s Trauma Informed Care, Kerin, a counselor with HOPE Trust in the Solomon Islands, feels capable of supporting her clients better.

“I just listen as I had been taught in the Hagar training,” she says. “It’s all about the survivor feeling safe enough to release and breathe in the space provided. I’m passionate and honored to support the young girls in my country and help protect them from all forms of exploitation and abuse.”
