First-Ever Survivor Alumni Celebration in Cambodia

Pich Saravody and Sam Sreyna

At Hagar’s first-ever Alumni Celebration, more than one hundred women and men stood strong and honored their recovery journeys. Once traumatized, trafficked, and abused, today, they are accountants, business owners, mechanics, and lawyers who use their stories of overcoming to empower others.

During Hagar’s Alumni Celebration event, former survivors shared their stories, offered words of encouragement, and engaged in group discussions to provide their feedback on Hagar’s programs.

It was a rich and fruitful time of celebration.

Four former survivors were invited to be guest speakers and share openly about their lives and the impact Hagar played in their healing journeys. One of the guest speakers, Pich Saravody (pictured above right), spent time at Hagar’s Girls Recovery Program in 2008 and is now a famous actress in Cambodia.

“Although we are not connected by blood, we lived as a family under the same roof of Hagar’s support,” she said. “I have always remembered each and every moment that I had with friends and the loving care that Hagar’s staff provided to me. I always feel proud to tell everyone about my experience living in the Hagar’s center. I will use my experience as an inspirational story to motivate and encourage other people.”
