Dana’s Story: From Trafficked Teen in China to Safety at the Home of Love

When Dana* was just 15 years old, she was trafficked from Cambodia to China with the promise of a better future. Instead, she faced unimaginable abuse.

Forced into marriage and stripped of her freedom, Dana endured violence and exploitation no child should ever experience. After months of suffering, Dana was able to return to Cambodia with nothing but the clothes she was wearing. Exhausted, traumatized, and hopeless, she had nowhere to turn.

That’s when Dana was welcomed to Hagar’s Home of Love.

At the Home of Love, Dana received immediate care: clean clothes, food, medical treatment, and trauma counseling. For the first time in months, she was safe. Supported by Hagar’s caseworkers, Dana began to heal and rebuild her confidence. Within two weeks, Hagar helped her reunite with her family, equipping her parents and siblings with training in trauma-informed care to ensure she was welcomed with love and understanding.

Today, Dana is rebuilding her life with dignity and hope for the future.

The Home of Love in Cambodia is where stories like Dana’s begin to change course—from exploitation to restoration.

Every woman who walks through its doors is welcomed with warmth, stability, and the chance to start again.
